Speech and Language Development

How do you know if your child is having trouble with speech and language development?

 Does he or she…

…Have trouble remembering or following directions?

….Take a long time to answer a question, or understand new concepts?

….Have difficulty being understood by parents or grandparents?

Are sounds not pronounced correctly?

…Repeat sounds or words over and over again?

….Have a voice that is too loud or too soft all the time,

or that sounds raspy or hoarse?

…Have a limited range of vocabulary they seem to understand or use when speaking?

If so, you may wish to have your child screened by a speech and language pathologist.

Forts Pond Elementary has two speech and language pathologists:

Jennifer Golden and Cecilia Claytor
