A Salute to Veterans Celebration/Honor Flight

On December 5, 2012

Our first Veterans Day program was a huge success. We had approximately 41 Veterans/Military Personnel in attendance.  It was our honor to open up our school in appreciation for our military on Veterans Day.

We thank you for your service and commitment to our country!

Another project leading up to the Veterans Day Celebration was our participation in the Honor Flight program.  Our school raised $1,000 dollars in support of the Honor Flight.  Mrs. Smith, our Principal, flew to Washington with the World War II Veterans.   Several of us welcomed them back that night and it was amazing.  It was a humbling experience to be among those men and women who served so long ago. Thank you to everyone who participated in giving their time and money for this project.

We would also like to thank all of the students, parents and teachers who donated items for the 178th Combat Engineer Battalion National Guard Unit from South Carolina currently serving in Afghanistan.
